This motto promises greater value rewards for the price of hard and even painful work. And it's what the cofounders of Leadapreneur experienced from an epic expedition to the Mont Blanc summit, Europe's highest peak at 4,810m (15780ft) in August 2015. 2 days. +3,000 metres of climb. -30 degree Celsius. Ready? This photo shows one of the many crests we had to cross, glistening like the edge of a sword. The experience of standing at the very top of Europe's highest peak to witness this unique, mind-blowing view didn't come for free. This only came after climbing throughout an exhausting, soul-sucking cold dark night on glaciers, crossing huge crevasses that were so deep they had no end to them, surviving rock falls as our faces were rimed with ice from breathing so hard, our fingers and toes suffered frostnip (first degree of frostbite!) as the wind swirled around our bodies, howling and biting us like hyenas, and as we climbed the very last crest, we were punched by limiting beliefs to quit, and the fear of, literally, failing falling down. This expedition is a reminder that leadership is not just about having the reality distortion to set a bold vision... But it is also about having the: 1. GRIT to take adventurous risks 2. PERSISTENCE to adapt to the challenges 3. Relentless RESILIENCE to punch the poignant pains & the fears along the way. That gave us, in essence, the feeling of ecstasy of being alive. This is Jan Bartscht exhaustingly fighting the very last steps to reach the summit of the Mont Blanc, bang on time as Europe wakes up.
